Live Music Boot Camp

Instructor:  Mike Henry

Number of sessions:  four classes, weekly on Wednesdays, 7:00 – 8:30 pm

Dates: February 5, 12, 19, and 26

Cost:  $25 per session or $80 for the four-week course. You can take any individual class to learn about that specific topic, or enroll in all four to get the big picture and save $5 per session!

Live Music Boot Camp provides a concentrated behind-the-curtain look at four areas of expertise you’ll need to succeed, either in Austin or as a touring artist.

Here’s a deep dive into the world of booking. Learn how the ecosystem works and how to make a lasting impression with the people who hold the keys to the stages you want to play. Decode and demystify the plentiful and confusing twists and turns in the booking process so you get better gigs.

Live Music Marketing Basics

So, you have a gig … now what? This class lays out the basic tools and strategies you need to tell your story and get people through the door on show night. .

Week three (February 19)

Touring 101

Ready to go on the road? This class will help you decide if the time is right to tour and will give you the tools to serve as your own Tour Manager. Want to learn how to advance a show, route a tour and give yourselves a better chance to stay sane and healthy while living in a van? This one’s for you.

Week four (February 26)

How To Play Better Shows

You’ve put in all the work necessary to get the gig, promote the gig, and get to the gig … what happens next? Now comes the fun part, right? This class will help you navigate the potential stress and chaos of show day so you can perform at your best, enjoy yourself and get invited back.
